What UL 1741 covers
How an inverter connects to the grid safely — synchronizing with grid voltage and frequency, and the anti-islanding behavior that stops it back-feeding a dead line while a lineworker is on it. UL 1741 SB adds the grid-support functions of IEEE 1547-2018.
Why it matters for balcony solar
This is the standard today's buyable balcony-solar microinverters actually carry. It is a component certification — it says the inverter is safe, not that the finished plug-in kit was tested as a system. A microinverter can be fully UL 1741 listed and still never have been evaluated for back-feeding your house wiring.
The common mix-up
"UL 1741 listed" is often read as "safe to plug in." It means the inverter is a properly certified part — not that the kit is a certified plug-in system. That distinction is exactly what UL 3700 was created to close.

What to look for when buying
