Connecticut legalized plug-in solar inside a larger renewable-power act. It allows up to 1,200 W per meter and is unusual in naming specific standards — UL 1741, the NEC, and IEEE 1547 — rather than UL 3700.

Does Connecticut require UL 3700?
No — the statute does not name UL 3700.

Does not name UL 3700. Connecticut is distinctive in naming UL 1741 (an inverter standard), the NEC (NFPA-70), and IEEE 1547 — component and interconnection standards, not the plug-in-system standard. That bar is arguably met by today's microinverters.

What the law does
- Must include a feature that prevents the system from energizing the building's wiring during an outage (anti-islanding).
- Exempt from PURA interconnection-agreement requirements; one device per meter.
- Consumers must be warned that excess export is billed as usage unless on a net meter.
What's still unsettled
- By naming UL 1741 rather than UL 3700, the certification bar is one a properly-listed microinverter can already meet — without ever being tested as a plug-in system.
Before you buy in Connecticut
A state law opening the door is only one of three gates. The gear must actually be certified to what the law asks for — and today no plug-in kit sold in the US carries UL 3700 yet.
